After graduating from The Maryland Institute College of Art, I pursued a career in visual communication through which I strengthened my visual storytelling, now the cornerstone of my fine art.
Currently, I am selling my mixed-media art and books at galleries and juried art festivals. I also enjoy teaching my techniques at local workshops.
The majority of my work is constructed from hand-cut papers that I embellish with many different types of art mediums. The joy of mixed media for me is always coming up with new ways to add special effects with new mediums. I also like to incorporate my love of storytelling by printing a story on the paper that I use as the skin of my subjects. I have also written three books based on my character Ophelia from "Ophelia, Under the Day Moon".
Ophelia is very close to my heart and I look forward to continuing to write about her adventures.
My hopes for the future are to be able to have many more workshops to share my love of creating with others. I am also looking forward to writing another Ophelia book and continuing to create mixed media as well as paint.
I have both "Ophelia, Under the Day Moon" books which I purchased many years ago. I am re-reading them and enjoy them as much now as when I first read them. I am an artist too, but my style is "painterly realism". As I read I visualize events. Have you written any books with realistic illustrations? I am guessing you could do that based on the drawing of the village.
